General discussion about Mazzy Star

Excellent show tonight at the Vic. Stood just about in the front row and was right in front of Hope. Setlist didn't really vary but we got the second encore. It was the exact same set as in Denver.

I recorded the entire show and will share and upload to my YouTube channel (UnreleasedOriginal). Highlights:

* Hope has a freaking iPad! Awesome. Not sure if this has already been discussed before but intriguing. It appears she controls the display herself from it, and in addition her sound issues/demands appear to have been permanently solved as she has soundboard/sound level access right in front of her during the show.
* Some idiot yelled out "Damn, I got a boner" in the middle of the show. Surprisingly Hope didn't freak out and walk off but it was cringeworthy and the crowd made angry noises in response.
* Hope actually responded to one of the "I love yous" with "Love you too"! She's come a long way from "I don't need you to love me, I need you to shut the fuck up."
* Short-lived though, as before the final encore I think she said something to the effect of "If I have to hear any more "I love yous" from you guys..." trailing off ominously.

All in all extremely entertaining and a dream finally realized. I honestly never thought I would see this day come but here it is, and I can only hope that David wasn't yanking our chains when he said more music was on the way. It was a weekday but I would have loved to stick around and chat w/the band had I not had work tomorrow morning.

Zarik: Thanks for posting your account of the show, & that you plan on sharing a file & youtube upload of your recording. How did your recording turn out? This tour was the first time I got to see Mazzy or Hope live too.
But better late than never, huh?

At Dime today, member radiohead898 upped the Chicago show here:
http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-deta ... ?id=472004
The above is at 44khz/16bit, 413MB size file.
He also upped a ''deluxe'' version recorded at 96khz/24 bit in a huge 1.66GB file, here:
http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-deta ... ?id=472003
I've I re-upped the 16 bit one here:
http://www.filefactory.com/file/264g6zydsun9
I DL-ed part of the 24 bit one too, & to my ears it doesn't sound significantly enough better to justify DL-ng the whole large file. Just my opinion.

radiohead898's is a good recording. It sounds like it was recorded from back in the hall a ways (he says ''from the first railing'', where ever that is). It will be interesting to hear what Zarik's recorded from near the stage sounds like. (later edit - earlier I commented here how quiet the Chicago crowd was. After second listening I'm revising that. There's not a lot of chatter during songs, which is good, but there is more hooting & clapping in the middle of songs than I thought. Rather than being less noisy than Seattle during Does Someone Have My Baby Now, as I first thought, Chicagoans are worse! Unfortunately, the silent pauses in the middle of that song provoke yells & clapping. The only quiet version without significant audience interjections may be Copenhagen 2000. Way to go Scandinavia!)

I think Hope's singing's better on every show I've heard so far from this tour than it was on any 2012 show I heard. Last year I had a sneaking fear Hope's voice was in early stages of becoming over the hill, diminished, & that what ailed her voice in 2012 may not have been temporary. Thankfully, this tour's proving that cringe-worthy theory wrong. Instead, it's like the 1990s!

A positive review:

The setlist from the Dime file (same as Denver, as Zarik says):
01.Look On Down From The Bridge
02. Cry Cry
03. In The Kingdom
04. Lay Myself Down
05. Ride It On
06. Does Someone Have Your Baby Now
07. Into Dust
08. She Hangs Brightly
09. Halah
10. Fade Into You
11. Blue Flower
12. Disappear
(Encore):
13. California
14. So Tonight That I Might See
(Encore):
15. I've Been Let Down

She actually said "If I have to walk up those stairs one more time.."

For those unaware, backstage is downstairs at The Vic.
