Will wonders never cease. I happened to swing by Hope’s site (hopesandoval.com) and there was news that Hope will sing on Mercury Rev’s cover of Bobby Gentry’s ‘Big Boss Man’ to be available Feb 8/19. Apparently there is a Pitchfork article as well.

I think Hope announced her collaboration with Mercury Rev in an interview for an Australian radio last summer.
The album "The Delta Sweete Revisited" will be available 8th February 2019 via Bella Union.

Thanks for the info Emma. My "Will wonders never cease." comment was in regards to hopesandoval.com having news in a timely manner, which is something commented on over the years. That album looks interesting. I am familiar with only 4 of the 12 guest female vocalists but those 4 are worthy of a listen.

Hope's vocals are great! The guitar in the background reminds me of "Pale Blue Eyes".

I didn't even know this Mercury Rev thread existed till today (3+ month later). This section of the site is a blind spot for me. apparently. I seem to just go straight to the General Discussion section, mistakenly thinking that's where everything gets posted! Oh, well. Btw, glad to see you're still around and posting Mike. I like Hope's Big Boss Man cover. Norah Jones' contribution stands out for me on that album too. Big Boss Man has a long history of cover versions with dozens of artist covering the song, starting with Jimmy Reed in 1960. And The Grateful Dead played it live many times. Hope's latest in a long line. But Hope says (in an interview) her only real life boss man is her cat Herman! Ha ha.
