The Warm Inventions - Until the Hunter: November 4

I know there's another topic, but maybe we can have one specifically for the album, since it's official (almost) ;)

^ The website of a reputable Swedish retailer. No track listing or vinyl edition confirmed yet, but this seems pretty concrete to me - considering all the info it does have (distributor, supplier, catalog number, and even a barcode: 0881034123107)

Releasedatum: 2016-11-04

So there we have it.

Track listing:
01 Into the Trees
02 The Peasant
03 A Wonderful Seed
04 Let Me Get There
05 Day Disguise
06 Treasure
07 Salt of the Sea
08 The Hiking Song
09 Isn’t It True
10 I Took a Sip
11 Liquid Lady

Thanks Homeostasis. Nice quote from Kurt. Hope sounds good, as usual, and Kurt's singing is tolerable enough. I like to imagine that might be him playing guitar on it, in which case I like his guitar style somewhat better than his singing. I saw on Amazon a listing for the vinyl version of the new album only, available Nov. 4.

An announcement from Pitchfork (along with newish photo of Hope)

Kurt Vile is quoted as saying: "It was a total honor to sing along to a beautifully hypnotic soul groove with heavyweights like Hope, Colm, and all the other top notch musos. To respond to Hope’s call in song of letting her get there felt right and real and gave me chills while singing, even though I knew they already got there years before I walked in the building."

This article gives info on what musicians are on the new Until the Hunter album, QUOTE: "For this album The Warm Inventions also comprised My Bloody Valentine's Colm O'Coisog. Besides Vile, other guests on the album include Dirt Blue Gene, singer Mariee Sioux, and street musician Michael Masley." I'll add, Jim Putnam played on the Isn't it True single. That song also appears on the album. Mariee Sioux (along with The Entrance Band) opened for Mazzy Star in Seattle in 2013 when I saw them there. Dirt Blue Gene played on the prior HS&TWI album, Through the Devil Softly, and toured as The Warm Inventions last tour. And the article suggests a tour's coming too, QUOTE: "A press release promises that live shows will be announced at some point." The article has a nice photo of Hope by Luz Gallardo I don't recall seeing before. http://www.undertheradarmag.com/news/ho ... ile_collab

And here's a video titled "Michael Masley" of a musician playing a Hungarian Cimbalom on a street somewhere (presumably CA - where he's from)

Sounds like a beautiful instrument. Very curious to hear what they do with it on the album.

Michael Masley sounds like an ensemble rather than a single player. Impressive. I found another video where he describes what he does. If his claims are true, he's quite innovative in his approach to playing the hammer dulcimer.

FB fan Group member John Crawford posted a link to Rough Trade's retail site U.K. with info. on releases of Until the Hunter they're selling, which include a limited edition green vinyl release, plus an "exclusive" 2-CD version with the second CD including B-sides from the vinyl singles of the songs "She's in the Wall" and "The Spider."

I'm glad those two songs are getting official digital releases. However much some people like old technology vinyl, it's the digital age, and vinyl-only releases don't seem right in 2016!

Track lengths have been posted at iTunes
https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/until ... 1142754005

It's a long one. Quite a few tracks close to or well over the 6-minute mark. I'm looking forward to hearing this. As much as I loved the album version of "For the Rest of Your Life", the longer, live version they did on tour kicked its ass. Total album length is approximately 59 minutes.

Also, iTunes have track 8 listed as "The Hiking Song", not "The Hiking Sea". I'm inclined to believe iTunes, since I thought it strange that they'd have two songs with "Sea" in their titles right next to one another on the track list.
