The mystery of Hope's ipad:
She has it at eye level onstage this tour which unfortunately blocks views of her from some angles.
But what does she use it for, exacty? A Brooklyn Vegan commenter claims he had a clear view of the ipad screen in Boston:
QUOTE: " Her iPad on the music stand has the lyrics on it - karaoke style. I saw them at the Paradise in Boston on Tuesday night and because of that club's set-up I ended up on the side of the stage somewhat behind Hope. There were lyrics on the ipad and before every song she would scroll to that songs lyrics."
I'm skeptical Hope actually needs to read the words though, especially as the band's doing mostly old chestnut favourites Hope's sung scores, if not hundreds of times. Why would she need to read lyrics of songs she knows so well? So maybe it's mostly to help lessen her stage fright, so she knows she has the security of not having to worry about forgetting any lyrics, though she's probably unlikely to forget any, anyway. Other commenters pointed out it's not uncommon to see singers having lyrics visible onstage to refer to, usually on pages on music stands.
(I facetiously suggested maybe the ipad's delivering texted love notes from beau Colm O'Ciosoig [who, as we know, would be playing bass again on this tour if he wasn't touring with My Bloody Valentine] to make the stage-frightened one feel more at ease up there!)
(later updates): Another Boston show review:
