It's been years since it last occurred, but I've come across a "new" old song contained in a 1990s live Mazzy Star recording! Thanks go to FB Group member Ray Sferra who mailed me a CDR of his own 1990 Cleveland Mazzy Star show recording which contained the welcome surprise of a song I've never heard Mazzy Star, or any other artist, do before (though the guitar line sounds a bit familiar).

I will share the entire 12-song show soon, but for now I've just upped the one "mystery" song to yt. partly in the hope someone can possibly ID it. Is it a cover song anyone has heard before? https://youtu.be/TGV6vpbOq1s

I'm suspecting it's most likely an unreleased Mazzy Star original as lyrics searches of the few lyrics lines I think I can catch on first listenings turn up no known songs. Also. youtube's scanning computers did not ID any copyright holders on the song, which may suggest it's likely an unreleased Mazzy Star original.

Somehow the existence of this third collab between Hope and Massive Attack (+ Burial) was unknown to me until today when a youtuber clued me in, even though it was released in 2011. How did I miss it for six years?
It's a song called "Four Walls." Hope sings on it & co-wrote it.

I believe I tried upping this same video recording to my yt Channel back in 2012 but Primavera Fest blocked it on yt. Luckily, I tried upping it again in 2018 'cause now Primavera is claiming copyright, but instead of blocking it is allowing it on yt, finally, six years later. Better late than never.

Sorry it's not in HD quality. 360p appears to be the quality of my original recording I made when it livestreamed in 2012 and that's all I have or know about.

Video recordings and clips of Mazzy Star performing live are fairly plentiful. Search "Mazzy Star live" at yt to find some. But video of Opal with Kendra Smith performing live are much rarer. There are these two 1987 Opal with Kendra show videos on youtube, one 17 minutes long, the other 39 mins:
