July 14, 2022 addition: an upgraded (improved) version of the audio recording from Mazzy Star's TV appearance on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon , Nov. 25, 2013, where they played one song "CALIFORNIA." Site member and youtuber opalstardream shared his improved. The video has been listed in this thread since 2013. This audio sounds better than the audio on that video. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1XZoQKu ... sp=sharing

LINEUP (corrections welcome)

Hope Sandoval: vocals, tambourine, shakers, harmonica
David Roback: guitars
Jill Emery: bass
Keith Mitchell: drums
Will Cooper: violin/viola
Suki Ewers: keyboards, second guitar

NOTES

Nice set from them before a nice (though at a few times distracted) crowd. They came on very late on a Sunday night so some folks were a bit surly at the beginning.

This was very early in my taping 'career' and I hadn't yet dialed in on the sweet spots at the Cat's Cradle. As a result that band sounds quite good but the vocals were very distant (even for Mazzy Star). I experimented with Izotope to try and raise them after a few tries I was able to get something I think is an improvement over the original. A few songs are somewhat marred by a distracted crowd but overall this sounds very nice.

I traded this on DAT with multiple people back in those days but as far as I can tell it hasn't made it's way online until now.

Enjoy,

The recording is marred by loud audience chatterers through the whole show.

Sony D7 DAT - Sony ECM-909A - Tascam DR-05

01 Disappear
02 Be My Angel
03 Rhymes of an Hour
04 So Tonight That I Might See
05 Ride It On
06 Flowers in December
07 Halah
08 Still Cold

10 Give You My Lovin'

Into Dust was skipped as were a few others.
I have their setlist somewhere otherwise I wouldn't have known.
Playing with Butthole Surfers and Eels was not best move as it was not the proper type of music for the audience there that night.

Mazzy Star, 1996, Nov. 4 - London, Union Chapel
TWO VERSIONS from two different audio sources. One is the complete show. The other is incomplete, lacking the encore. The incomplete version has somewhat better audio quality.

-INCOMPLETE: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1jSIZ3M ... sp=sharing

Notes: DAT obtained from another trader's collection many years ago. The recording starts just a few seconds into Disappear. Of the two recordings I have of this show, this is the more complete recording, as it contains the final encore (Give You My Lovin' and Ghost Highway). There is occasional mic noise at points of the recording. This recording is more distant and a bit lower quality than the other recording though.

Opal - 1987, Nov. 3, Philadelphia, Chestnut Cabaret

shared to the dimeadozen site by hanwaker.

This recording I've had for some time, but it got overlooked as far as being added to this list, till now.

The speed sounds a bit off, imo, a bit too fast, making the pitch sharp. It's most noticeable in Kendra's voice which sounds too high pitched for her. The vocals could do with being more prominent in the mix too.
Otherwise, it's not a bad sounding recording. It could benefit from a repair of the speed.
Some time in future I might do a repair job on it. But if someone else wants to volunteer to repair it and share their repaired version, so much the better. Here are hanwaker's notes that accompanied the upload. The venue, Chestnut Cabaret, was ascertained and added later.

Hi Bob, I've deleted the temporary links to my google drive in some of my posts in your FB group and replaced them with "ask the admins for the flac version". If I come across anything potentially interesting in the future, I'll post it here.

Thanks go to vacantrush for sharing this recording via a torrent site called echoeshub,
and to site member here, Gordon Hobs, for finding it there and further sharing it. See page 18
in this thread for info.

Gordon Hobs discovered Dime member vacantrush had shared this recording at another
torrent sharing site, echoeshub. Though vacantrush has shared many Mazzy Star shows via Dime,
I'm not aware of him having shared this one via Dime. It may have been an oversight on his part.

*"Where Did You Go," often incorrectly titled "Where Did You Run To." A set list used on stage in 1990 gives the correct title.
It's a song originally played by Hope's 1980s duo with Sylvia Gomez, Going Home.
Opal with Hope singing played the song live some times (1987-88) and Mazzy Star played it live on their
1990 tour. This 1993 show may be the only post-1990 show I know of where Mazzy Star played the song live.
It was never released in a studio recording, although an unreleased studio recording of Going Home performing
the song exists

**"I'm Less Here" did not get released till 2014 in a single.
It was a song dating from the 1990s the band played live only occasionally. This is the earliest
live recording of the song I'm aware of.

Hope at many shows barely spoke to audiences. At this show she speaks more than usual, 100+
words, a lot for her, which does include her complaining a couple of times about talkers in the audience.
