Saw this announcement today:
http://modern-vinyl.com/2014/03/13/7-fr ... ed-to-rsd/
Mazzy Star's issuing a 7" vinyl single with two new songs on it to be released on Record Store Day, April 19, run limited to 3,000 copies.

One vendor's taking advance orders here [later update:They apparently are no longer accepting advance orders,
& now refer to it as available "In-Store Only"].

"I'm Less Here" is one of the song titles. Not sure the title of the second.

-Maybe after the vinyl's released they'll offer a digital version too.
Last I checked, there's no announcement yet about the single at:

Thanks for the info, Hermesacat!
It's exciting to hear they are releasing new material :)

According to this Web site, the second track is called "Things".

Emma: Good, two new songs (instead of studio versions of unreleased ones they've previously done live). Nice.Let's hope this ongoing activity of new releases & tours continues!

If anyone's wondering, it seems the vinyl will only be available in-store on Record Store Day (April 19), then, if any are still left, the rest will be sold online afterwards.

I've seen some comments in places about people not being sure if they'll be able to get their hands on one. So you can either go to your local indie record store on April 19, or you can take a chance and wait to get it online a few days after.

I've not heard anything about a digital download release yet. I'm sure they'll get around to it eventually. It would seem silly to exclude certain fans from being able to buy it.

Adding to Homeostasis' comments, someone else more familiar with Record Store Day than me says stores that participate don't necessarily order in every record slated for a Record Store Day release. She suggests phoning local stores participating to ask if they're getting in the Mazzy single. She also says in the past, Record Store Day releases she's gone to the store early on the Day to buy didn't necessarily have high demand/limited availability, as she noticed the same releases were sometimes still available in racks months later.
With luck, there will be enough Mazzy singles findable for those who want the vinyl, plus a digital release later.

Today via FB,

Mazzy Star announced they've posted to youtube a 45 second "teaser" excerpt of the soon-to-be-released song "I'm Less Here" :

It turns out it's a song already familiar to many fans as it's the song from live recordings previously known as "It Speaks of Distance," or "It Speaks The Distance". It seems to have been a rarely performed Mazzy Star song that dates back at least as early as 1994. I've heard just two live recordings of it, the show from Copenhagen, 2000, & the 1994 CBGB show, both of which are findable in the boots list here. I've also upped both song recordings to youtube:

Today, I checked websites of 3 local record stores I know participate in Record Store Day. Only one offers helpful info by listing the specific Record Store Day releases they have on order for their store. Luckily, the Mazzy Star 7" is among them! Once an ordered RSD record arrives in the store, the store's site says it will confirm it by showing the title in bold text. Thankfully, there's at least one well organized record store in town. They say many RSD records typically get shipped to the store very close to RSD, & may not arrive till the day before, even.

I'm guessing people wanting the record, even if they can't find it at a local store, will likely be able to find one via mail order after April 19. Good luck, record hunters!

I called a few records stores near me and found one that has several copies of the new single...gonna head there on RSD and try to get my hands on one.

Anyone else going to try to score a copy on Saturday? Sure, you could wait until after and try to buy online but what fun is that?

I think I have to try and find the thing after Record Store Day. The only record store in Ireland participating in RSD is Tower Records in Dublin, who I called and they said they weren't getting any copies. The woman I was talking to there sort of half-heartedly suggested she would try to order a copy for me, but I got this feeling that she was just telling me what I wanted to hear so I'd leave her alone, so I told her to forget about it. And most of the English websites I've looked in to don't seem to ship outside of the UK, so as much as I'd love to support the band by buying the vinyl directly - I think eBay is gonna be my only option.
