& asked if anyone had seen it before. I'd seen it, but it's one I no longer have on my computer, & seems otherwise hard to find online now, although it may have been included on some of my yt slideshows.
I like it 'cause it's a bit of an unusual shot.

The original poster wrote that the picture was the result of a one-of-a-kind collaboration between Hope and her brother and that it was for sale.

By coincidence, a larger version of the same one as you found from that article page
turned up a few days ago via google alerts. It's a nice pic of Hope (as is the one taken by Hope's brother):

The site states the photo was taken at the Heaven Forever Cemetary. L.A., 2009, which must have been when she did a Hope S & T.W.I. show there, a show we have a recording of thanks to Forum member
"creek" sharing his. Btw, I re-upped that show (including the "new" photo above) along with a number
of other audio files the last few days, ones that are on the boots list whose links had gone dead (expired), which a youtuber checking out the list alerted me to.

Here's a Hope-era Opal pic, plus the uncropped photo of the bootleg album cover it comes from, Opal Live in Berlin Germany 1988.



I had to resize the bootleg album cover (reduce number of pixels) to make it fit in this thread.

David Morgan (who uploads Mazzy & Opal recordings to yt, & has posted in this forum as "opalstardream" )

after someone reposted my fuzzy screen capture version of the pic there. I'm glad David provided the improved quality one as it's one of few Hope-era-Opal pics of the band findable, & is one of my own fave early pics of Hope.

David Morgan ("opalstardream") applied some technical magic to the Hope pic Emma posted, the one taken by Hope's brother, Ron. He says he "photoscaped" it & somehow removed the prominent bright glare spot on it. Nice job!



Someone had reposted Emma's post of the pic to this Facebook fan group:

which is where David found it. I posted a comment there quoting Emma's info about the pic, as the FB poster didn't mention it was taken by Hope's brother, etc.

Thanks for posting the Getty and the Opal pictures.
Their resolution is excellent.

Unfortunately, I can't access the Facebook pages you mentioned as I don't have a Facebook account. Is there a way to view them without a Facebook login?

I presume you're able to access Mazzy Star's own official FB site without needing to have a FB account yourself. But maybe the Mazzy Star/Hope Sandoval FB group has stricter access rules. Even with a FB account, one can't leave comments there until requesting to join the group & receiving approval from Group administrator, Glenn Bouwmeester.

Btw, I used to have a "real" FB account years ago with my real name, photo, personal details, & with my friends & relatives known to the Facebook Corp. Then I kept reading article after article on how Facebook Corp. routinely abused users' privacy in various ways, so I deleted my account. Forum member here, Homeostasis, has said he's wary of FB due to privacy concerns. Later, I opened a new "dummy" FB account with a partially made up name & birthdate, & lacking most personal details, not linked to any of my friends & relatives, & not used for networking - just so I could look at other people's FB pages. As you're finding, some pages aren't viewable unless you're on FB. That's the kind of FB account I have now, a "dummy" one, although my "F*** Facebook" resolve has faded slightly lately as I approved a FB friend request from Mazzy fan David Morgan ("opalstardream") yesterday (oh, oh...).

Anyway, if it's privacy concerns keeping you off FB, you could always open a "dummy" FB account that doesn't reveal too much about you.
