I upped the 2013-11-19 Boston, Paradise Club show to youtube, here:

A link for the audio file in FLAC is listed in the boots list. It's:

Thanks go to Forum member jamband for sharing his recording!

David Roback wrote songs for the 2004 film "Clean" that featured actors Maggie Cheung & Nick Nolte. I'd read about these songs, but only belatedly heard them for the first time today after seeing at this blog:
http://www.metafilter.com/132208/Mazzy- ... -new-album
that a commenter has posted youtube links to three apparently Roback-penned songs from "Clean," all sung by Maggie Cheung. Not too surprisingly, they sound enjoyably Opal-&-Mazzy-like, imo, if they may lack Hope's rare talents for writing & delivering vocal melodies.

THE BLACK SESSIONS:
Yesterday I posted a link in the boots list thread for the much improved version of the Mazzy Star Oct. 26, 1993 Black Sessions Paris radio broadcast recording. The recordings of the same show listed earlier in the boots list of all pale in comparison. This is the definitive version, an authorized one straight from the radio station's original tapes. Here's a youtube upload of the whole well-recorded, well-performed show:
http://youtu.be/mo5SQHIhUGc
The above link is for my second attempted youtube upload. Unfortunately, the first one (now removed) had some music files on it that were not of Mazzy Star. The second one seems fine.

Fans enjoying these new uploads of The Black Sessions have Forum member "jamband" (Mark) to thank as the audio file comes from the limited edition (2,500 copies) Black Sessions 20th anniversary CD he bought on ebay, likely for a small fortune, & generously shared a CDR copy of taken from his CD.

The "20th Anniversary" CDRs (they were never pressed on silver CDs) were proven to be poor quality bootlegs, compiled from promo copies sent to DJs around France. I believe the community on Discogs and Steve Hoffman forums initially made the discoveries.

That's not to say that the music isn't legit, but they come from inferior sources compared to FLACs that already were available.

dyerseve:
This is the website cited on the CD's cover:
http://www.blacksessions.webs.com/
So, it appears to be part of an apparently authorized release in 2012 of what looks like an entire 20 year collection of Black Sessions concerts/broadcasts. The site says the the limited edition (2,500 copies) release was intended mainly for DJ's, not that it was compiled from prior promotional CDs.

As far as the quality goes, all I know is of the the three or four versions I've heard before & were listed previously in the boots list, this one sounds by far best to my ears. The only FLAC version I knew of before this one was the one most recently posted to the DIME site many months ago, & it sucks (relatively) imo, playing too slow & with a terrible EQ mix. Of the ones listed in the boots list previously, I recommended a lousy 160kbps MP3 over the FLAC one as the MP3 seemed best sounding of a bad lot. If there is another FLAC version better than the CD, & you have a file, how about posting a DL link so we can compare? My motto is "may the best quality recording win!"

That site was created by the bootlegger who has attempted to make people believe Sangatte Records is a legit label. They're not. And while I'll concede the version provided may be better than previous posts, the consensus is that this bootlegger should be avoided at all costs -- not because he's selling unlicensed material -- but because he hits eBay and Discogs every few months with the same "limited" run of CDs. Prices used to skyrocket, and then he'd come back six months later and do the same thing.

FWIW, in this singular case, I really only care about the best quality (probably much like you). I was merely pointing out that the guy who distributes these CDRs isn't using material sourced directly from the sessions.

I'm in the process of going through the versions I currently have to A/B them and see if any are better than this one.

EDIT: Info on Sangette Records - http://www.discogs.com/label/65782-Sangatte-Records

dyerseve : So, there's more than meets the eye to this Sangatte Records. Thanks for reporting what you've discovered about it. So clever of the guy to present his boots collection as a "20th Anniversary" project, making it sound extra legit. I'll change my descriptions of this recording since its "authorized" status doesn't seem to be the case. The good news is it does sound better than the uploads previously listed in the boots list here. There was no very good version of it listed here before.

If you do find any of the recordings you have (either The Black Sessions, or others too) are better quality than what's listed in the boots list, & you're able & willing to share, don't hesitate. Which reminds that a CD-rip FLAC version of "The Other Side" collection to replace the 320KBPS MP3 version currently listed is one I'd like to locate, if anyone might be able to contribute one.

Today via FB,
https://www.facebook.com/MazzyStarOffic ... ion=stream
Mazzy Star announced they'd posted to youtube a 45 second "teaser" excerpt of the soon-to-be-released song "I'm Less Here" :
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6o8HeVjz11o
It turns out it's a song already familiar to many fans as it's the song from live recordings previously known as "It Speaks of Distance," or "It Speaks The Distance". It seems to have been a rarely performed Mazzy Star song that dates back at least as early as 1994. I've heard just two live recordings of it, the show from Copenhagen, 2000, & the 1994 CBGB show, both of which are findable in the boots list here. I've also upped both song recordings to youtube:

Hermesacat,
I have the Fade Into You CD single that includes I'm Gonna Bake My Biscuit, Under My Car, and Bells Ring (Acoustic).
I extracted and converted these three tracks to flac files. If you want to replace your mp3 versions (The Other Side collection) with these flac files, you can download them from:

(edit: I removed the link as these tracks are now commercially available on various music platforms.)
